Northwest Family Physicians is now using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) technology at all of its clinics. The Electronic Medical Record represents a significant advance in patient care delivery over the old style paper chart. You may have heard this issue gain national attention as the Federal government has urged all health care providers to utilize this system in their clinics. Nationally fewer than 17% of Family Practice clinics have made the significant effort to adopt the paperless chart. We believe that by being an early adopter of this improved technology it demonstrates Northwest Family Physicians commitment to quality patient care and being a leader in the use of these advanced systems.
Northwest Family Physicians is now offering the following services: * Colonoscopies Colonoscopy is now available at both our Crystal and Plymouth offices. Dr. Steven Shu and Dr. Joel Sagedahl currently offer this procedure. If you are 50 years old, or older, you should ask your physician about scheduling this extremely important screening procedure. * Travel Clinic * On-Line Services Northwest Family Physicians is expanding services that are available on-line. The first service now available is on-line appointment request. If you need an appointment, now you can do it without calling the clinic through our website. It is a simple, convenient way to schedule a non-urgent appointment, just register with our website and log-on. Look for additional on-line services to be added in the future.
Northwest Express: The Crystal Gallery Urgent Care has started a new Urgent Care service called Northwest Express. This focused care program is designed to efficiently treat straightforward conditions in a modified Urgent Care setting. If you believe you have; sore throat, ear infection, sinusitis, pink eye, cold sores, you can be seen right away by our dedicated Express care provider. This fast track process gets you seen and on your way with very limited wait times. If your condition ends up being more serious we have physicians on staff in the Urgent Care that can treat you as well. Two great services, one location: Northwest Express and Crystal Gallery Urgent Care.
Virtual Office Visits: Northwest Family Physicians is now able to provide an e-visit or what is also known as a virtual office visit. An e-visit is defined as a Web based exchange of non-urgent clinical information between an established Northwest Family Physicians patient and physician conducted over a secure network. For many basic or straightforward conditions, you may be able to be treated and receive a prescription without ever leaving your home. If your condition does not qualify as an e-visit, we will let you know that and you will not be charged. Several insurance plans now offer coverage for this type of service. If you do not have coverage, our fee is limited to
$35.00.
Diabetic Retinal Eye exam: The American Diabetes Association recommends a dilated eye exam once a year for persons with diabetes. Northwest Family Physicians now has a state of the art digital camera that is used to take pictures of the back of the eye so that this exam can be preformed quickly and easily in our office in about 10 minutes. It is very important to have this exam as damage to your vision from diabetes can occur with no noticeable symptoms or warning signs. Please be sure to schedule this important yearly exam.
