We perform many minor surgical procedures at Northwest Family Physicians:
- Toenail removal
- Removal or biopsy of moles or other
skin lesions
- Simple removal of skin cancers
- Incision and drainage of most
abscesses
- Removal of cysts
- Vasectomy
- Treatment of thrombosed external
hemorrhoids
In addition, 2 providers perform more extensive surgical procedures:
- Dr. Shu is a family practioner at our
Crystal office (starting 3/1/02) who has
had more extensive surgical training. He
is able to do more extensive skin surgery
such as repairing scars, removing skin
cancers, and repairing ear lobe
lacerations from earrings. He also
performs infrared coagulation of
internal hemorrhoids.
- Dr. McLaughlin is a surgeon employed by
Metropolitan Surgical Associates who is at
our Crystal site on a weekly basis. He
performs the full range of general
surgical services including breast
biopsies, appendectomies, gall
bladder surgery and many others. In most
situations, patients are referred to
him from one of our family
practice providers.
